Doctors say the number of patients is increasing due to the extreme heat.

In the Ballia district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, 54 people have died in the past three days as a result of the severe heat wave, and around 400 are being treated.

According to Indian television broadcaster NDTV, doctors say that while the causes of death vary, extreme heat can also be a cause.

"The heat wave swept the world, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius in most places.

A sudden rise in hospital deaths and other problems among patients, such as fever and difficulty breathing, alarmed staff.

Ballia 15 District Hospital Chief Medical Director SK Yadav said that 23 patients died on June 15, while 20 died the next day and 11 the day before.

The Azamgarh Circle Additional Director of Health, Dr. BP Tiwari said a team is coming from Lucknow to check if there is any undiagnosed disease.

When it is very hot or cold, the risk increases for respiratory patients, diabetics and blood pressure patients.

Temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius were measured in most places.

The county hospital is so crowded that patients are not even given stretchers and many family members carry their patients on their shoulders to the emergency room.

The additional director of health claimed it would be difficult if ten patients came at once, but they have stretchers.

He said two senior doctors have been sent to the site and will soon write to the management to update them on the situation. Chief physician Dr. Diwakar Singh was removed from office for negligently reporting heat wave deaths without proper information.

Due to rising temperatures and extreme heat in India, people over 60 are advised to stay indoors during the day.
