A 45-year-old man in Ireland set a Guinness World Record by beating the drums for 6 days in memory of his partner.
According to the British broadcasting organization BBC, Alastair Brown from Lisburn, Ireland played the drums for more than 150 hours (6 days), setting the record for the longest time playing the drums.
Alastair Brown started drumming on Sunday 16th July and set a new drumming record by midday on Saturday 22nd July.
The previous record for longest battery life was held by Alastair Brown. He first played the drums for 134 hours and 5 minutes.
Alastair Brown reportedly set the record in memory of his 49-year-old partner Sharon Deegan, who died of cancer in 2021.
Speaking at Lisburn Music Center on Saturday, where he made the recording, Alastair Brown thanked all his friends and said it had always been on my mind, I wanted to do it in memory of Sharon.
According to Guinness World Records, Alastair Brown was allowed a five-minute break after each hour of drumming while setting the record.
However, instead of taking a break after each hour, they thought better of accumulating this time and resting for a longer period.
According to reports, by Friday morning, after 5 days of playing drums, Alastair had only slept two hours.
It should be noted that this is Alastair's third Guinness World Record, having previously held the record for longest battery life twice. In 2003 he played the drums for 58 hours and then in 2008 Alastair broke the record of 103 hours.
