Djokovic heavily fined for throwing racket in anger in Wimbledon final

Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has been heavily fined for throwing his racket into the net in anger during the Wimbledon final. 

Spain's young tennis star Carlos Alvarez won the first Grand Slam title of his career by defeating Serbia's Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon tennis final on Sunday. 

The Wimbledon final between Carlos Alcarez and Novak Djokovic lasted 4 hours 42 minutes.

After losing the first set, Carlos Alcarez made a stunning comeback to beat tennis star Djokovic with a three-set victory in a 5-set final. 

Alcarez's winning record was one six, seven sixes, six one, three sixes and six fours. 

In the fifth set of the Wimbledon final, Novak Djokovic angrily threw his racket at the net.

After the incident, referee Fergus Murphy warned Djokovic for breaking the code, while the Serbian tennis star was later fined £6,117 ($8,000).

After the match, Djokovic spoke about his racquet performance, saying: "It was just a disappointment, I had break points in the second set, but then Carlos Alcarez played a great game that was enough to win." 

On the other hand, after winning the final, Alcáriz said that he had watched Djokovic win tennis tournaments since he was born. 

He said that Djokovic inspired me a lot. He is a great player. I started playing tennis watching Djokovic play tennis and it feels great to win a match against him today. 

Remember that the last 4 Wimbledon Grand Slams were organized by Novak Djokovic, Djokovic won Wimbledon trophy in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022, 2020 Wimbledon tournament could not be held due to Corona. 

It was also the first Grand Slam to be played over 5 sets since 2008, before Spain's Rafael Nadal won a 5-set Grand Slam in 2008.
